The most creative way to apply for a job on the internet

Have a look at this smart video:

Isn´t this smart? By the way, I found this on the facebook page of BusinessPunk, which you can find at:

So be flexible as you will get what you have always got, when you do what you have always done! (Richard Bandler)

Wangerooge office

This is my office this week - our second home on the island of Wangerooge in the North Sea. No cars, just a wonderful beach - like the Sansibar beach, which is my favourite place on Sylt. A wonderful place to free your mind, to run with bare feet, to swim in the sea and finally to think, learn and work.

Smart drawings about life from BusinessPunk magazine

Have a look at www.thisisindexed.com
It is a very smart smart web page from Jessica Hagy with drawings like this:
No comment needed :-)

By the way, I found this is the second edition of "BusinessPunk". Yes waiting has an end. the second edition is out.
I just love this magazine. You can find more info at: http://www.business-punk.com/

Great ambush marketing from Germanwings vs easyjet :-)

Have a look at this cool campain (in German):

Thank you Nici for this great link!

Peter Senge on the creative process

A very smart video from Peter Senge, the author of the 5th discipline (read it, if you have not done yet!), found on a blog for smarties:

Doing your research project - Zina O´Leary

This is one of my favourite books on how to do research:

You can have a look into the book on the Amazon web page at:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Essential-Guide-Doing-Research-Project/dp/1848600119/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1274079262&sr=8-1

Zina also has a great web page with additional videos and charts, at:
www.uk.sagepub.com/resources/oleary

You can download her excellent powerpoint charts, which are a great summary of her book at:
http://www.uk.sagepub.com/resources/oleary/pptslides.htm

This is one of the great examples of professors that are sharing their materials openly. I would wish that this development would also come to Germany, which is still very closed in this respect. In the meantime, I am continuing my work on my PhD in the UK :-)

Here are the videos, which are a very nice overview of the book contents and the research process in general:

So keep on braining yourself and the rest of the world!

London Eye

When you visit London, don´t miss the London Eye. You have a spectacular view over London.
You can find all the infos at: http://www.londoneye.com/
.... and don´t miss the 4D-show, which is included in the ticket, even looking as studid as us below :-)
... and take the left line - we were in the eye within 5 minutes - with a regular ticket but a VIP smile :-)

Love never dies in London

For all musical lovers of you and for all of you who also love romantic weekend hideaways, this is what Nici and me did last weekend:

Love never dies is the continuation of the Phantom of the Opera and we liked it even more than the first part. It is playing in the Adelphi Theatre in London. You find all the infos at:
http://www.loveneverdies.com/

When you are a bit more flexible on what to see, there are many booths in the city, selling cheap tickets for all the musicals which are currently on stage, like Grease, Elliot, Sister Act and many more.
And by the way - you do not need to wear a tie. I was slightly overdressed, but luckily not the only one and better than the other way round :-)

We had a great hotel with a wonderful mix of old and new elements.
It is just 200m away from the theatre and directly at the tube station Charing Cross (near Trafalgar Square). The hotel is also a great starting place for exploring the city. It is the Guoman Hotel. You find it at:
http://www.guoman.com/hotels/united_kingdom/london/charing_cross/index.html

The London Eye is just 300m to walk and directly accross the street there is a Starbucks - for all chai lovers, like me :-)

The backup plan / Plan B für die Liebe

I am just coming back from a wonderful movie about finding "the one" and how children change your universe:

... and I can confirm ... nothing is more challenging ... and nothing is more rewarding than your own children ...

Sexiest Porsche ad ever ...

4. May, 18-20h: Great DPA presentation on social Media from Anette Brandt on Offener Kanal Westküste

For all of you who are interested in social media and who understand German:
Turn on the "Offener Kanal Westküste" Station tomorrow (4. 5.2010, 18-20h)

You can listen to it either locally on air or via internet. By the way, the "ok" is a great station for smarties. they have a lot of high quality content. You can find their program at:
http://www.okwestkueste.de/wk/hoeren/programm/2010/kw18_10.php#Dienstag

Anette Brandt from news aktuell, a subsidiary of DPA, gave a great guest lecture at West Coast University, the university which has the smartest and sexiest marketing and controlling prof alive - my wife :-)

Anette Brandt gave a great overview of the current social media landscape and she presented top current studies. In addtion, her presentation was very vivid. So all of you who do get the chance, listen to her on the "ok" tomorrow.

For all of you who miss(ed) her, I have uploaded her charts on my slideshare at:

And you can find more from Anette Brandt and her team on:
www.newsaktuell.de
www.presseportal.de

So keep on sharing ideas. As knowledge is the only resource that increases with usage :-)

Starbucks Cards Can Now be Managed via Facebook

For all Starbucksies like me - found on Mashable at:

Thanks to Wolfgang Niederhausen´s facebook post.

Starbucks Cards Can Now be Managed via Facebook

As an early adopter brand, Starbucks has reaped the rewards of social media innovation. Today the company is furthering those efforts with a Facebook application for customers to access and manage their Starbucks cards.
The application will go live around 1:50 p.m. PDT today and will be accessible via Starbucks’ Facebook Page.  Essentially the application provides a virtual way to complete any card-related activity and even view a record of all transactions.
On the card management front, users can register (or unregister cards), check their balance, reload cards and edit profile information. The app also includes relevant rewards program information so frequent customers can check their status levels and benefits.
What’s even cooler is that come summer time, Starbucks will introduce functionality that will let users reload a Facebook friend’s Starbucks card as a gift through the application. Talk about an instant way to make a Facebook friend’s day.
Of course, most of the application’s functionality mirrors what you can already do via the Starbucks website and its iPhone app, but the Facebook app is all about convenience.
Product Manager Brad Nelson explained, “Our Facebook community is very vibrant with over seven million fans. We see this a great way to make it even easier to manage your Starbucks Card on Facebook. We can’t wait to make it easy to buy your friends a drink.”
Convenient it is. Given FacebookFacebookFacebook’s size and significance, we expect the application to be a huge hit for both customers and company.
Very Smart as so often. One of the reasons why I am a real Starbucks fan. My favourite is the Chai Tea Latte with soy milk - no I have to admit, I am addicted to it :-)

The smart thing about the Starbucks card is that you can use it to use the WIFI in the stores.
I always use this, when I am travelling to the US. See me older blog entry at:

Maximize windows on your Mac like in Windows

For all of you, who also shifted from Windows to Mac, you might have run into the same problem:
The behaviour of the green window button seems to be like a lottery. Sometimes, the windows are maximized and sometimes they end up in a different size.

I found a freeware tool on:
http://www.blazingtools.com/downloads.html#rightZoom
to resolve this issue:

Right Zoom for Mac 1.63 - freeware (language: English)
Independent reviews from SwitchingToMac.com and BrightHub.com
This free tool fixes an inconvenient behavior of green Zoom button in Mac OS X. It will always expand windows on a full screen instead of strange resizing.
Last update: 06 Oct 2009;
Required: Mac OS X 10.4 or later (with Snow Leopard support)
File size: 416 KB;

Just download it, copy the program file into the application folder and double click it to start and configure it. It works :-)
